Eagle River Fire Protection District is equipped to respond to and combat various types of fires, including structure fires, wildfires, vehicle fires, and more.

ERFPD Firefighters are trained Emergency Medical Technicians and respond to all medical emergencies called into 9-1-1.
We are prepared to respond to incidents involving hazardous materials, including chemical spills, gas leaks, and other dangerous substance. All operations personnel are required to possess an active Hazardous Materials Operations Certification; many personnel have advanced training and have been certified Hazardous Materials Technician and qualified at Hazardous Materials Specialist levels.
ERFPD Firefighters are trained and equipped for technical rescues, which can include situations such as swift water rescues, high-angle rope rescues (e.g., rescuing individuals from cliffs or tall structures), and confined space entrapments.

Our staff is often involved in freeing individuals who are trapped in vehicles, machinery, or other objects due to accidents or entrapments. Firefighters are trained to use specialized tools, such as hydraulic cutters and spreaders, to extricate victims safely.
After extinguishing fires, fire departments often conduct investigations to determine the cause of fires, which can help prevent future incidents and, in some cases, identify criminal activity.
Eagle River Fire Protection District assists Vail Mountain Rescue with the specialized field of search and rescue operations conducted in remote, natural, or wilderness environments.
We also provide non-emergency services like public education, home safety assessments and wildfire threat assessments.
