As we are located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, a Firefighter with ERFPD is required to perform a variety of tasks to meet the unique needs of the local terrain. The following are some, but not all, of the tasks that firefighters are expected to respond to:

  • Structure Fire Suppression
  • Wildland Fire Suppression and Mitigation
  • Hazardous Materials Response
  • Technical Rope Rescue
  • Swift Water Rescue
  • Surface Ice Rescue
  • Emergency Medical Care
  • Backcountry Rescue

Wildland Fire Suppression Module Lead

The Wildland Fire Suppression Module Lead is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and
operational oversight of a wildland fire suppression module within the Eagle River Fire
Protection District, along with participating agencies within Eagle County. This position
supports wildland fire suppression, fuels mitigation, training delivery, administrative oversight,
and interagency operations throughout Eagle County and on regional and national assignments.
The Module Lead functions as a supervisory and technical position requiring independent
judgment, operational decision-making, and compliance with EVW/ERFPD policies, NWCG
standards, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
