Fire Suppression

Eagle River Fire Protection District responds to all fire-related incidents within our various districts as well as lending mutual aid to neighboring fire departments. Fire-related incidents include structure fires, wildfires and motor vehicle fires.

ERFPD units are dispatched by the Vail Public Safety Communications Center and most calls for service are generated by personal or commercial fire alarm systems. ERFPD treats every alarm as if it were real and responds with the mindset that life and property are at risk. Fire-related emergencies can be complex and time sensitive and often require multiple Engine Companies to respond to a single alarm.

ERFPD endeavors to prevent fires from happening within our community by performing annual inspections of commercial properties and educating members of the community on safe practices within their homes. Upon request, ERFPD is happy to provide inspections of personal residences to identify any possible hazards in or outside of the home.

Medical Response

All ERFPD Firefighters are trained Emergency Medical Technicians and are equipped to provide Basic Life Support. ERFPD Fire Engines respond to all medical emergencies directed to 911. ERFPD responds with Eagle County Paramedic Services to all medical emergencies, and we work together to provide the highest level of care possible to our patients.

For patients that require the next level of care, Eagle County Paramedic Services provide transport to local hospitals.
