Permit Overview

A permit is required for fire and life safety systems, specific construction projects, and certain operational activities within the district. Work may not begin until the permit is approved and payment is received. Inspections are required and must be scheduled after permit issuance.

How to submit a permit

Complete each step in order to receive a permit.

  1. Find the correct permit below
    Choose the right permit or application (look below) that matches your project type.
  2. Review your permit with the submittal requirements Download 2026 submittal requirements (Word)
  3. Complete and submit the form
    Fill out the application completely. Save your application as a PDF and email it to prevention@eagleriverfire.org.
  4. Submit payment
    Payment is by check only at this time. Permits will not be issued without payment.
    Payment can be dropped off or mailed to the Fire Prevention Bureau: 1050 Edwards Village Blvd. or PO Box 2942, Edwards, CO 81632.
  5. Permit issuance
    After your application is received and payment is confirmed, a signed permit will be emailed to you.

Permits will not be reviewed until payment is received.

No Work Without Permit Policy

  • Any work done prior to approval and issuance of the permit shall result in an immediate ‘Stop Work’ order issued and a Work without Permit Fee shall be assessed.
  • The fee shall be equal to four (4) times the amount of the scheduled permit fee and must be paid before any work can be continued or inspections requested.
  • If work is continued without an approved permit, understand that additional fees shall be assessed.
  • Acknowledgement and understanding statement for the No Work without Permit Policy, is now located on Permit Applications. Signature on application verifies reading and understanding of “No Work without Permit policy”.

Fees shall be paid by check or money order. Eagle River Fire Protection District does not accept cash or credit cards.
The fee shall be delivered in person or mailed to the Eagle River Fire Protection District administrative office. No formal notification of receipt for fee shall be mailed from the ERFPD office unless requested.
